Simplicity can infer numerous ideas: plain black and white text for quick, easy reading; a single picture posted on one page; a few coyly placed words and images balancing each other out; etc. You can fill in the gaps with your own imagination.
The take home message I want you to understand is that sometimes loud, flashy, and bold aren’t always the best way to go when constructing a piece of eLiterature. Think of your target audience, and design a plan that will appease said audience. You will not gain a fan following of “goths” if you present them with a multi-colored webpage stuffed to the scrollbar with images of fluffy baby animals. You’ll probably gain a fan following of children and other such types of which we shall not speak of here.
